A: You can double click the file in the task list or highlight it and click the Advanced button on the main window to open the Advanced Options panel. The information of the original file and the parameter settings for output will be both shown on the panel, for you could conveniently compare the parameter values between the source and the target.

A: All the settings can be found on the Advanced Options panel, you can click the Advanced button on the main window to open it. After you highlight the task you want to change settings and change the output Profile to a customable one, the information of the original file and the parameter settings for output will be shown on the Advanced Options panel as a grid, such as the "Frame Rate", "Sample Rate", and "Bit rate" and so on. You can click the parameter items in the Target line and choose the values from the dropdown lists.

Q:It takes over a long time to convert a video file, how to get it faster?

A: Video converting is a time consuming job. It depends on the duration, frame size (resolution), the codec of the source file, and those settings for the result file. If you want it faster, you may set a lower frame size.

top

Q:How can i find the output file after the conversion?

A: In the task list the folder and the file name of the output file shows in the Destination line. To find the output file conveniently, right click the mouse button on the task and click Open destination directory on the popup menu, the folder contain your output file will be opened. The default destination folder for our program is "C:\VideoConvert".

Q:What about if I convert a file into same format several times saving in the same output folder without setting different output names respectively? Will your program just overwrite the previous conversion? It will be nice if it can save the output files in different titles automatically.

A:Consider this situation , the converter checks the destination folder before convert a file every time, If there is a file has the same name as the output file, it will add a number to the output file's name. For example, if your file is called "movie.3gp" and you want to convert it to AVI format, after the first conversion job, the output file will be named as "movie.avi". If you do the same conversion job again, out program will generate a file, called "movie(1).avi". And also, if you perform a third conversion, the third output file will be "movie(2).avi". And, You can find the final output file name in the Destination line of the task list.

Q:After the conversion is done, I found that the output file is in such a small resolution. All what I used are default settings. I should be able to adjust resolution. And what should I modify?

A: In our program, resolution is called "Frame Size". You can click the Advanced button on the main window to open the Advanced Options panel and find this item on the panel. Different output Profile may have different default values. You can click the parameter items in the Target line and select a value which has been offered in the drop-list. If the item has only one value, you can change another customable profile.

Q:After the conversion is done, I am not satisfied with the quality of output files. How can I improve it by certain settings?

A: Generally speaking, the output quality can be improved by modifying "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate". After you highlight the file in the task list, you will be able to change the profile to a higher quality one. Or you can select a custom profile, and change the "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate" on the Advanced Option panel. But in certain formats or for certain devices there would be some limitations. And also, the output files would be in a larger size if you set larger values for these two items.

top

Q:After the conversion is done, I found the size of output files were too big. what settings should I modify?

A: The size of the output file mainly hinge on "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate". After you highlight the file in the task list, you will be able to change the profile to a lower quality one. Or you can select the a custom profile, and decrease values of "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate", for the default value may be too high for your source or your usage. Generally speaking, if the output parameter values exceed the values of the source, will not improve the quality of the output, and will only increase the size. So you should try the values appropriate for sources and devices.

Q:After the conversion to certain audio formats is done, I found that the output audio files always skip. It means there are always some short breaks during playback. How to correct it?

A: Maybe you have set a smaller value for audio bit rate. Please try a larger one for it. Generally speaking, the default value we offered can assure a good result.

Q:I want to convert some VOB files, which I load into the program from the "Video_TS" folder of a standard DVD. But I either get a "Fail" notice or a bad, not complete conversion result. Why?

A: Our software, Video Converter, is just a video conversion tool, so it will not do a good job on DVD conversion. If you can remove the encryption of the DVD by other third-party program, such as DVD Decryptor, our software will be able to convert the decrypted VOB files.

Q:When I convert video, there seems to be a file size limitation of 4 GB per file. How can I change this?

A: Certain file systems have file size limitation. If your HDD is formatted using FAT32 system, you cannot create files larger than 4 GB on it. Normally, Windows XP and 2000 offer to format your HDD using NTFS, but you can also select FAT32, when you install the OS. The only way out of this situation is reformat your HDD using a more up-to-date NTFS file system, or convert video to a HDD which is already using this file system.

Q:I found that video is not in sync with the audio. How to resolve it? Why is this?

A: Unfortunately not all conversions go 100% smoothly and some result in the Audio and Video out of synchronization. This can be due to many reasons with the primary problems being the original movie source and codec clashes. I suggest looking at using an alternative video codec or audio codec.

Q:How to transfer the output video files to my PSP?

Put your converted video files (M4VXXXXX.mp4 and M4VXXXXX.THM) to the folder \MP_ROOT\100MNV01\ in the MemoryStick.

Q:What is bitrate?

A: Bit rate very often used when speaking of video or audio quality and file size - defines how much physical space one second of audio or video takes in bits (note: not in bytes). The higher the bit rate, the more times per second the original sound is sampled, thus yielding a more faithful reproduction and better sound. When choosing an MP3, weigh the advantage of a higher bit rate against the size of the file. Generally speaking, a bit rate of 128 kbps or higher will provide satisfactory sound quality.
The same is with the video picture: the higher the bit rate, the better the picture quality although the output video file size also gets larger. If it is possible to save the output file onto a storage with a large capacity the use of higher video bit rates can be recommended.

Q:What is frame rate?

A: In basic terms, a video can be thought of as being made up of numerous snapshots, called frames. In basic term Frame Rate defines how many pictures e.g.. frames one second of video or audio contains, normally used acronym for framerate is fps - frames per second. Human eye can't see picture changes after the framerate is more than ~24fps.
Video files with higher frame rates show motion better but have larger file sizes. Typical frame rates are 29.97 for  NTSC video (in American TV system), 25 for PAL (European system) video, and 24 for film. When exporting low-bandwidth versions, select a frame rate that is 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 of the original frame rate. Setting a frame rate higher than the original frame rate will make the file larger but will not improve the quality.
